Well-structured and mature, the Maison Coquard-Thomas VSOP Cognac has been aged between five and eight years. This VSOP blend works equally well on its own as it does in cocktails, particularly those with a citrus element. The grapes used for this blend are a combination of Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche varieties, giving a wonderful depth of flavor and complexity in the final product. The grapes have been harvested from one estate, characterized by chalky, thin soil laced with limestone - identical to the geological composition of some of the most famous Fine Champagne estates. Traditionally double distilled and matured only in French oak barrels, this expression is sure to become a modern classic.

In Claire’s own words: “Cognac is a contemporary drink and I decided it was the right time for me to do something different and face new challenges. I was born in Beaujolais, I married a Charentais, I have been working for almost 20 years on the international stage and it was time to create and launch this Cognac brand... A great discovery, a local product, easy to share with friends and family, and a great base for wonderful cocktails!”
Tall and slim with a long neck, the bottle has a wonderfully contemporary look that highlights its modern brand story. Copper lettering printed on the bottle - with matching foil on the neck - allows the color of the liquid inside to shine through.
While we often recommend drinking Cognac neat, this particular VSOP is the perfect base for aperitif cocktails: think a Sidecar, or even a zesty spritz, with its spice and apricot aromas pairing wonderfully with citrus. It would also make an excellent companion during dinner, served in tulip glasses at room temperature - or slightly chilled.
